Benjamin Franklin was onto something when he uttered those famous words. Unfortunately, scientific and social progress have yet to render his observation obsolete. In fact, progress has added a third certainty to our lives – the Steam sale.

The celebrated Steam sale is back again for its annual Autumn sale. The sale will take place from November 21 through the 26. Much like Steam sales of the past, the titles on sale will be rotated out daily with flash sales being rotated out even faster.

For today, the titles on sale include XCOM: Enemy Unknown, Magic The Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013, The Walking Dead, Darksiders II, Age of Empires III Complete and Terraria. These titles will be on sale for the next 46 hours.

As for the current Flash sales, you can pick up Intrusion 2, The Amazing Spider-Man, Operation Flashpoint franchise, Payday: The Heist, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II, and LIMBO all on the cheap for the next few hours.

Indie games have always had a prominent place in Steam sales, and the Autumn sale is no different. Steam even has a special page dedicated to indie titles this time. Great games like Cave Story, Sanctum, Fortune Summoners and AudioSurf are all heavily discounted, and will continue to be for the remainder of the sale.

Unfortunately, there’s no achievement contest for this sale, but Steam usually reserves those for the larger summer and winter sales anyway. Speaking of which, Joystiq reports that the Steam winter sale will run from December 20 to January 4. Good luck trying to save money for a Steam sale during a Steam sale.
