  • Body parts in mail sounds disturbing on its own, but that’s just one chapter is this very bizarre, very gruesome story. Ottawa authorities are currently on the lookout for 29 year-old porn star Luka Rocco Magnotta (aka Eric Clinton Newman), the man they suspect murdered an acquaintance before dismembering his corpse and distributing the body parts through the mail.

According to CNN’s Canadian affiliates, a severed foot showed up at Conservative Party headquarters in Ottawa on Tuesday. Staffers started opening the package before the overpowering stench rising from the container tipped them off that something wasn’t quite right. Another body part, a severed hand, was addressed to the Liberal Party, though the box was intercepted by police before it reached its intended destination.

On Wednesday, police were directed to a suitcase behind the suspect’s apartment complex. The luggage, which was discovered by the building’s janitor, contained the brutalized victim’s limbless torso. After officers sealed off the crime scene, they paid a visit to Magnotta’s apartment, which only added more layers to this seemingly endless tale of murder and mayhem.

Once inside, authorities were assaulted with something straight out of a a horror movie: the entire apartment, including the bed, bathtub, and refrigerator, was covered in blood. Even more disturbing was the video Magnotta made of the murder, which he posted to a few websites, including one police described as “pornographic”.

In order to track down the suspect, Ottawa police, in addition to issuing a “coast-to-coast” warrant for his arrest, have asked citizens to keep an eye out for Magnotta. Once he’s in custody, officials hope to find the rest of the victim’s remains.

“We are still missing pieces of this puzzle in terms of body parts,” said Sgt. Ian Lafreniere.
