Bobbi Kristina Brown Funeral Video is A New Low

  • Bobbi Kristina Brown is living out her last days–perhaps even weeks or months–at Peachtree Christian Hospice outside of Atlanta, Georgia. Stories hit the media daily about her passing away, fights among members of Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston’s respective families, and the lawsuit filed against Bobbi Kristina’s boyfriend Nick Gordon. Some of these stories are true. Others aren’t.

Those hoping to stir up even more controversy in the Bobbi Kristina Brown case find ways of creating a media circus around a very sad situation–that of a 22-year-old young woman whose life is pretty much over.

A new low, however, has hit the media. A video posted to YouTube is titled “Bobbi Kristina Brown Funeral Service 7/30/2015.” Do note that the date is more than a week away.

It has already garnered in excess of 25,000 views.

While it is understandable that some situations at Bobbi Kristina’s hospice might cause media hype–like the tent erected at the back of the building, and the hearse backing into said tent–this alleged funeral video is nothing but a cruel attempt to undermine and deceive. Bobbi Kristina Brown’s family members–and the young woman herself–deserve better than this.

Last week, close family friend Tyler Perry asked people–including the media–to respect both Bobbi Kristina and her family.

“This morning I woke up with Whitney on my mind. I couldn’t help but think about all that she must have dreamed for her child. I know this was not her dream… And as difficult as this time is for the people that love both Whitney and Krissi, what makes it more egregious is the blatant disrespect, lies, and ignorance that are rapidly printed in this awful time. For some reason, it has become human nature in our society to look for, seek out, and celebrate darkness, glory in tragedy, and enjoy reading and reporting it,” he wrote.

“It makes me sad to know that everybody wants to be the first to report something awful. So much so, that they find it OK to speak death onto those who are still alive. May I ask you all to please show some decency and respect? Not only to Krissi’s family, but also to the other families that are there in this place. Not only is Krissi at the center but there are several other families who are grieving the loss of their loved ones at the same time. It’s heartbreaking to think that even in a time like this, this child is still not allowed any peace. I assure you, the family will issue an official statement if something changes.”

“Until then, can we just pray for Krissi, and the Houston and Brown families?”

A funeral video–dated more than a week in the future–is absurd. Worse than that, it’s hurtful to those close to Bobbi Kristina. Her family will have to contend with a funeral and burial of their loved one in the coming days, weeks, or months.

Seeing one dramatized is ridiculous and insulting.

One day soon there will surely be a funeral for Bobbi Kristina Brown. As her grandmother Cissy Houston firmly believes, this will be at God’s timing and no one else’s.

In the meantime, Bobbi Kristina’s family sits vigil at her bedside, cherishing those moments they have left.
