  • Bob Barker’s return to The Price is Right was the best April Fool’s day prank ever.

The audience went wild when instead of current host Drew Carey, it was the venerable game show host who came out after introductions.

“What a welcome,” a clearly touched Barker exclaimed, adding that “I have never had a welcome like that.”

Barker was asked to host a portion of the April Fools edition of The Price is Right and true to form, jokingly said “I know the world is full of fools, but I am a carefully selected fool.”

Barker started hosting the long running show in 1972 and stayed as its host for 35 years. His departure from the show in 2007 was one of the most emotional moments on television.

Looking extremely fit for a 91-year old, Barker then gave the audience a brief reminder of why he’s so loved. He handled the show’s opening salvo – the classic “Lucky Seven” game – with aplomb and one contestant was lucky enough to drive away with an SUV.

Alas, all good things must come to an end and Barker turned hosting duties back to Carey after the first commercial break.

The game show has a history of pulling April Fools’ Day pranks and this one has got to be among the most memorable. In 2013, the show’s models swapped jobs with Carey and announcer George Gray. And last year, Late Late Show host Craig Ferguson took over hosting duties at The Price is Right.

But despite being away from The Price is Right, Bob Barker has been keeping busy. The host was recently seen squaring off with Adam Sandler as they reignited their Happy Gilmore feud.

In a promo for Comedy Central’s Night of Too Many Stars, Barker is seen in a hospital being visited by Adam Sandler. It doesn’t take long for the two to trade insults and come to blows.

But whether it’s hosting The Price is Right again or going toe to toe with Happy Gilmore, Bob Barker remains classy and witty as ever.
