  • Irrational Games began detailing their Big Daddy-like enemies for BioShock Infinite last week with the Robotic George Washington. They promised a new reveal every week for these intimidating foes and they have delivered again this week.

The second Heavy Hitter is named the Handyman. While the name conjures up images of a plumber or carpenter, the reality couldn’t be further from the truth. The Handyman is a man placed inside of a giant metal body with their heart clearly exposed on the front.

Ken Levine, director of the game, says that these men are tragic figures, but wouldn’t elaborate on what he meant by that. Funny thing is, the Big Daddies from BioShock were also tragic figures, but that didn’t stop players from filling them full of lead to save the Little Sisters. Here’s hoping gamers have a bit more sympathy for these enemies, but I doubt it.

The team says the Handyman is going to be a powerful, but agile enemy. Players shouldn’t be surprised when they start to see these enemies leaping around the environment with ease. The Handyman will also pick up NPCs that are close to them to throw at the player character.

I’m sure the Handyman is going to draw the most amount of criticism for being too much like the Big Daddies from BioShock. There are some similarities, but BioShock Infinite is its own world for Irrational Games to explore. Gamers just have to keep the faith that the developers know what they’re doing.

There are still two more Heavy Hitters to be revealed and many more surprises are sure to be revealed as we draw closer to the game’s October 16 release date. We’ll keep you updated when more information is revealed.

What do you think of the Handyman? Is he better than Robo-Washington? What do you think the other Heavy Hitters are going to be? Let us know in the comments.
