  • Farjay Studios has noticed a disturbing trend in games these days. They’ve found that games puts players into the roles of humans far too often. That’s a problem, and one they hope to remedy with their latest title.

Farjay Studios launched a Kickstarter today for Bear Simulator – a game that says everything in its title. In the game, you will take on the role of a bear as it treks across the wilderness doing whatever it is that bears do. The title is entirely in first person so players will get to experience the power and elegance of a bear first hand.

    Here’s the synopsis:

The title gives you all you need to know as it’s pretty much a bear simulator. You play in FPB (First Person Bear) and do bear things which include exploring, eating fish and plants, striking down anything that dare stand before your might, increasing your stats, sleeping and discovering mysteries of your forest home.

As you would expect, the humor is not lost on the development team. It seems that Bear Simulator’s tongue is planted firmly in cheek as the game will have a number of interesting and potentially absurd features. One such feature – a key – is exclusive to Kickstarter backers. The final game will have a mystery door that can only be unlocked via the mystery key that players will get by backing the game with a $15 or more pledge. By pledging more, you can get a number of other ridiculous bonuses, like sunglasses, a “pointless” game case, your name on a rock or your art featured in an in-game art gallery.

Here’s the first alpha gameplay trailer:

Bear Simulator is on track for release later this year if the team can raise $29,500.

If you want more bizarre animal simulators in your life, Goat Simulator might just be what you’re looking for.
