  • Just a week after the successful premiere of the Hallmark Channel family movie Northpole, a sequel has already been announced. Much like the first film, the sequel is a collaboration between the Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Cards. The film serves a tentpole for the network’s annual “Countdown to Christmas” programming. It was also announced that Lori Laughlin, who appeared in the network’s When The Heart Calls series as well as the telefilm Sugar Cookie Murder, will star as a woman who “receives unexpected Christmas cheer” from a team of elves.

The team of elves will be headed by Bailee Madison, who will be reprising her role as Clementine from the first film. The network put out a press release regarding the announcement. “Developing a hugely successful film in partnership with Hallmark Cards was a tremendous accomplishment and we look forward to creating an even more spectacular second installment with Northpole 2 by casting two of the network’s most beloved leading ladies, Lori Loughlin and Bailee Madison,” said Michelle Vicary, Executive Vice President, Programming for Crown Media Family Networks.

The November 15 premiere of Northpole yielded great numbers for the network. Northpole averaged a 3.5 household rating and 4 million viewers, and it is the Hallmark Channel’s most-watched and highest-rated movie of 2014 so far.

Bailee Madison is a 15-year-old actress known for her roles in films such as The Bridge to Terabithia, Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark, and the Adam Sandler comedy Just Go With It. She started her career at 2 weeks old when she appeared at a commercial for Office Depot. Madison made her motion picture debut in the crime film Lonely Hearts, and followed that with a role in the movie adaptation of the children’s book The Bridge to Terabithia. She can currently be seen in the TV shows Trophy Wife and The Fosters.
