  • Ubisoft held a conference call today with investors to announce a couple of new products for the coming year – the most exciting being Assassin’s Creed 3.

Joystiq reports that Ubisoft president Yves Guillemot announced today that Assassin’s Creed 3 will launch October 30, a far cry from the usual late November release. They probably changed up the release date to avoid competition with Call of Duty.

You’re here, however, for the juicy details of what Assassin’s Creeed 3 will contain since the last three games in the franchise have followed the exploits of Ezio. There’s not much to go off on, but Guillemot did say that Assassin’s Creed 3 is “the true next generation of both the Assassin’s Creed brand and and interactive entertainment/storytelling in general.”

That’s some lofty expectations and the bar should be set high since it’s been in development for the past three years. I always knew they were working on something while Ubisoft cranked out yearly releases in the Ezio story arc. It’s just good to see that Assassin’s Creed 3 is being given the time it needs to truly shine.

Guillemot promises that we’ll hear more about the game in the coming months. We can safely assume, however, that the game will not feature Ezio or take place in Italy. I’m still rather fond of the Russian revolution setting that is currently playing out in the comics.

Assassin’s Creed 3 will launch for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

A new Assassin’s Creed wasn’t the only big news that came from the publisher today. Ubisoft announced the release date for Far Cry 3. The open-world FPS will launch on September 7 for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Here’s the profanity and dubstep laden trailer that was released alongside the announcement that features no gameplay but plenty of pretty CG:

The company plans to launch quite a few games in the fourth quarter that will satiate the needs of handheld and PC players. The publisher announced that they are launching Asphalt: Injection, Dungeon Hunter Alliance, Lumines Electronic Symphony and Michael Jackson The Experience for the PlayStation Vita this quarter.

For fans of platforming, Rayman Origins will be making its way to PC and the PlayStation Vita during the fourth quarter as well. Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network will also see a HD version of Rayman 3 coming out soon.

As we draw closer to E3, expect to hear more on Assassin’s Creed 3, Far Cry 3 and any other tripled sequel the publisher has in store.
