Ashley Madison is on the minds of many a married cheater today as the suspense surrounding a possible data leak grows.
Cheating website Ashley Madison, the slogan of which is “Life is short. Have an affair.”, was hacked recently by a team of hackers called The
impact Team.
The Impact Team threatened the parent company of Ashley Madison, Avid Life Media, to release details of the sites 37 million clients. That information would include real names, credit card numbers, sexual preferences, explicit photos, private chat messages and emails.
The hackers took issue with Ashley Madison’s full delete service, which offered a complete scrub of personal information from the site for $19.99. The Impact Team has proven that the information doesn’t, in fact, get deleted. They say they will release the information if the site isn’t taken down.
While the news of the Ashley Madison hack is bad news for many marriages, it’s good news for businesses that profit from private investigations and divorce.
Danny Boice, founder of Trustify, which is a Washington D.C. business that connects people with low-cost private investigators, says he’s “99%” sure that The Impact Team will release the Ashley Madison info soon. When they do, Trustify will post those names for people to search.
That’s when Danny Boice will cash in.

Another business that could soon benefit from the Ashley Madison hack is that of the divorce lawyer.
Nancy Chemtob, a partner at the matrimonial and family law firm Chemtob Moss & Forman, said of the Ashley Madison hack, “I saw the story last night and my partner came in this morning and said, ‘Forget about same-sex marriages doubling the practice. This is going to be a balloon.'”
