  • Aresenio Hall fans will be upset to learn that the Arsenio Hall Show has been canceled after only one season. CBS Television Distribution claims that the show does not have a large enough fan base to allow it to continue.

They released a statement about the show’s cancellation saying,

“Unfortunately, The Arsenio Hall Show will not return for a second season; while there are many loyal fans of the show, the series did not grow its audience enough to continue.”

“Arsenio is a tremendous talent and we’d like to thank him for all the hard work and energy he put into the show. We’d also like to thank Tribune and all our station group partners for their support of the show.”

Arsenio Hall also commented on the cancellation saying,

“When I started this adventure with CTD and Tribune, we all knew it would be a challenge — I’m gratified for the year we’ve had and proud of the show we created. I’d like to thank everyone on my staff for rallying around me and striving to make the best show possible every night.”

    He also tweeted about it.

The network had planned for a second season and even announced it in February 2014. They decided to cancel the show after Sinclair Broadcast Group, Tribune Co. and LIN Television all downgraded the series from its respective time slots.

The Arsenio Hall Show launched in September 2013 and although Hall had hosted a television show before, he planned to make his new one appeal to a younger audience and a different generation.

The show had a promising premiere but struggled after only a few weeks. The last half hour of the show competed with other late-night television talk shows including, the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live and CBS’ Late Show With David Letterman.

Many of Arsenio Hall’s fans voiced their disappointment in the show’s cancellation on Twitter.
