  • An Arizona school shooting on Friday has left two female students at Independence High School in Glendale dead.

According to a report from the New York Times, the bodies of two 15-year-old girls were found at the high school early on Friday. They were declared dead at the scene.

Officer Tracey J. Breeden, a spokeswoman for the Glendale Police Department, indicated the shootings may have been a murder-suicide.

“It’s a tragic incident,” she said.

“We don’t believe there are any outstanding suspects,” she added. “These two young women were found next to each other. There was a weapon found beside them.”

The relationship between the two girls involved in the Arizona school shooting is unknown at this point in time.

Following the Arizona school shooting, parents were asked to avoid the school, but to pick their children up at a nearby Walmart.

“Parents will be notified by email when students are released,” the district said in a Facebook post.

Governor Doug Ducey issued a statement in the wake of Friday’s Arizona school shooting.

“As details of this morning’s tragic shooting continue to be released, our hearts remain with the students, educators and families of Independence High School and the entire Glendale community,” he said.

School shootings are becoming all too common. What once seemed a tragic, isolated incident, these school shootings seem to be taking place every few months in the U.S.
