Canalys, a company that deals in market data, confirmed this morning that Android is on a roll in terms of shipments. Android supposedly attained a U.S. market share of about 44 percent in the third quarter, up significantly from the period before. As you might expect, this puts Android (or "OHA" for "Open Handset Alliance") in the lead. Apple had a market share of only 26.2 percent by comparison, RIM had a market share of 24.2 percent, and Microsoft and "Others" were left with scraps of 3.0 percent each.
