  • Amy Schumer is still taking every opportunity she can to call for tighter gun laws.

Schumer, of course, has ties to a mass shooting that took place in July. About 20 minutes into a showing of her latest movie Trainwreck, a gunman opened fire in a Lafayette, Louisiana movie theater.

The shooter killed two people and injured nine others before turning the gun on himself.

“If you’ve been convicted of domestic violence or if you’re severely mentally ill, I don’t think you should be able to get a gun. That seems pretty simple, but my reaction that I’ve gotten from that is … ‘She wants to take our guns’!” said Schumer Monday night at the Glamour Woman of the Year Awards.

In October, Amy Schumer teamed up with her cousin, New York Senator Chuck Schumer, to call for stricter gun laws. She called for legislation that would expand background checks and get rid of loopholes that allow people to purcahse firearms at gun shows and online without these checks.

“I’m not sure why this man chose my movie to end those two beautiful lives and injure nine others, but it was very personal for me. Enough is enough. These shootings have got to stop. I don’t know how else to say it,” Schumer said at a press conference following the Lafayette shootings.
