  • Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are charming, they’re adorable, and most importantly, they know how to be funny in a room full of celebrities without being mean. After their second time around hosting the Golden Globes this year, the former “Saturday Night Live” alums and real-life friends made it clear that they have what it takes to do it again, so it’s no surprise that they’ve been asked to host next year’s fete.

“Not only do we have the privilege of announcing the date of the 72nd annual Golden Globe Awards, we are very appreciative of Tina and Amy for hosting the ceremony for a third year in a row. There is no doubt they will once again host a memorable Golden Globe Awards celebration!” said Hollywood Foreign Press Association President Theo Kingma.

This year’s show included digs at George Clooney and Matthew McCounaghey that earned roars of laughter from the crowd and plenty of good ratings for the network.

“It’s a story of how George Clooney would rather float into space and die than spend one more minute with a woman his own age,” Fey said of “Gravity”.

This year’s show caused some controversy, however, when Fey congratulated Poehler after her win by saying, “I just want to say congratulations again to my friend Amy Poehler, I love you and there’s a special place in hell for you.” The line was a reference to a comment Taylor Swift made last year when she responded to a jab the comedians made about her in their monologue at the 2012 awards, and Swift’s fans took to social media to express their dismay with Fey. Poehler later apologized, saying, “Aw, I feel bad if she was upset. I am a feminist, and she is a young and talented girl. That being said, I do agree I am going to hell. But for other reasons. Mostly boring tax stuff.”

Next year’s awards show will take place on January 11, 2015 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
