  • After appearing on the red carpet in a beautiful red dress with a plunging neckline, similar to those she wore in the film American Hustle, Amy Adams won Best Actress in a Comedy last night at the Golden Globe Awards.

In her emotional acceptance speech, she thanked the director, David Russell, whom Adams had also previously worked with on the film The Fighter.

“David, you write such amazing roles for women,” she remarked. “Thanks for letting the world know that a princess can punch and wear an amazing dress.”

Adams revealed that she was celebrating the 15th anniversary of her move to Los Angeles, having been convinced by Kirstie Alley after the two starred alongside each other in the comedy Drop Dead Gorgeous, according to The Inquisitr.

The 39-year old actress said that she didn’t expect much out of her move and thought at the time, “I don’t know, maybe I’ll get a commercial or something.”

Along with Russell, Adams continued to thank others including her manager and American Hustle’s producers. However, the best moment of her speech came when the orchestra began to play her off.

“And most of all, you cannot play me out of talking about my daughter,” she said, tears in her eyes.

“My daughter Aviana who’s not old enough to understand this – but I love you so much…thank you for teaching me to accept joy and let go of fear.”

Adams is engaged to artist and actor Darren Le Gallo. She gave birth to her daughter, Aviana Olea Le Gallo, in May 2010.

Though Adams has been nominated five times for a Golden Globe, this is her first win.
