  • While the larger publishers are busy releasing weekly or bi-weekly (or more) trailers for their big-budget holiday titles, indie developers are stuck releasing a new trailer every few months. Really, though, that’s the perfect amount for non-spoilery previews. Especially when the game in question is all about building up the tension and fear by limiting what players can see.

Frictional Games today released a second teaser trailer for Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs, the upcoming sequel to the hit indie game Amnesia: The Dark Descent, which has sold over one million copies. Judging from the video, A Machine For Pigs seems to have a much more industrial setting than The Dark Descent‘s mansion and catacombs.

In addition to the trailer, Frictional is soliciting audio from fans. It wants users to submit their screams for use in the game:

    We Want Your Fear

    SQUEAL, little piggies, SQUEAL

We want your fear. Record your screams, your whimpers, your blood curdling shrieks of terror and you could star in Amnesa: A Machine for Pigs.

We are on the hunt for the sounds of fear, panic, terror, anguish, torture and horrid, awful death to include in the soundtrack for Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs.

Send them as Wavs, Oggs or MP3s to [email protected]

We don’t care who does the screaming. We just want the fear

Halloween is the perfect time for Frictional to promote its upcoming title. Excepting the Dead Space series’ action/horror hybrid gameplay, there is little left of the once-popular survival horror genre. If indie developers can bring it back with titles such as Amnesia and Slender, perhaps larger publishers will invest heavily in the genre once again.
