  • Amber Portwood recently detailed her new tell-all memoir titled Never Too Late.

Portwood, 24, gained her name to fame during her time spent on MTV’s 16 and Pregnant in 2009, and then for her appearance on the spin-off series Teen Mom.

Amber, mother to five-year-old Leah, was one of the many teens featured on the shows that struggled daily while trying to raise a child as a teenage mother.

In 2012, Amber was sentenced to five years in prison for drug possession, but only had to serve 17-months of her sentence because of good behavior.

In her memoir, Amber takes the reader behind the scenes of 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom, as well as behind bars.

Portwood explained that she had been wanting to write the book for some time now, and hoped that it would give her readers strength.

“I had been thinking about writing a book since my stay in prison,” Amber said. “I felt it was time when I got out to actually do it. I think my book is able to give strength and determination to those who are struggling.”

Amber admitted that it was hard to include some of the intimate details and challenges she faced, but knew that by doing so she would create a deeper connection with her readers. “I want people to read my book with an open mind,” she said. “I also hope my story can reach and help many people.”
