  • Johnny Depp essentially confirmed that he is engaged to Amber Heard while doing press for his new film Transcendence in Beijing on Monday.

The Pirates of the Caribbean actor wore a band with a single diamond on his finger during an interview, and the journalist asked if the ring was a confirmation of his engagement.

“You can take that anyway you like, absolutely,” Depp said.

“The fact that I’m wearing a chick’s ring on my finger is probably a dead giveaway. Not very subtle,” he said.

His comments come months after reports of his engagement to Heard surfaced in January.

Depp, 50, and Heard, 27, met on set while filming The Rum Diary in 2011.

The two celebrated the upcoming wedding with an engagement party at the Carondelet House in downtown Los Angeles in March. Celebrity guests included Steven Tyler, Marilyn Manson, Mandy Moore, Ryan Adams, and Andy Garcia.

In 2012, Depp split from his former partner of 14 years, 41-year-old French model Vanessa Paradis, with whom he shares two children.

Heard can be seen on the big screen starring alongside Kevin Costner in 3 Days to Kill, which hit theaters in February.

In Transcendence, Depp plays a terminally ill scientist who downloads his mind into a computer, which gives him new found powers. Depp co-stars alongside Rebecca Hall and Morgan Freeman in the science fiction film, which is scheduled for theatrical release on April 18 in China and the United States.

China will be the only international country Depp will be visiting to promote the film, as it is considered the second biggest box office after the U.S. and Canada. The movie will be shown in 3D, which is a format that is popular choice among the audiences in China.
