  • One less thing for Amanda Bynes to worry about.

The “Hairspray” actress, who has been in the news lately with a slew of problems, was granted a bit of grace and will not have to serve time in jail when a Manhattan judge ruled Friday to dismiss the bong-tossing case against the actress if she stays out of trouble for six months and attends counseling twice a week.

Bynes, 27, was charged with reckless endangerment and marijuana possession in May after being caught smoking pot in the lobby of her apartment building. When officers arrived at her 36th-floor apartment, they said they saw her heave a bong out the window.

When Bynes appeared in court to face the charges, she was wearing a disheveled blond wig and said she didn’t do anything wrong.

Bynes has had a difficult year with several strange incidents linked to her. She was institutionalized in August after she set a small fire in the driveway of a home in Thousand Oaks, Calif. Bynes was discharged from the inpatient treatment facility last November in California after six months.

Bynes did not attend the hearing. An affidavit filed on her behalf by attorney Gerald Shargel said she understood the agreement.

“This is an important step in her rehabilitation and she is pleased with the result,” he said outside court. “We’re very optimistic about the future.”
