Amanda Bynes hasn’t been in the headlines nearly as much as she was just last year, and there’s a good reason for it; the young actress has been recovering and staying out of the spotlight while attending school, and because she’s been on her best behavior, a judge dismissed a case against her this week.

Bynes was charged with reckless endangerment and marijuana possession last year after someone reported that she was smoking pot in the lobby of her apartment building; when police showed up, she threw a bong out the window. The incident was one of many that had fans and friends questioning her behavior, and a breakdown of sorts came when she set a fire in a stranger’s driveway in California. After that, she was admitted into hospital care and was later released to her parents. Bynes has been attending counseling upon the request of the court.

“She did her counseling and it’s now all behind her,” attorney Gerald Shargel said.

Bynes had several run-ins with the law last year, including driving under the influence and hitting a police car, for which she was sentenced to three years of probation. She was ordered to take alcohol education classes, as well, although her father publicly stated that his daughter didn’t have a problem with drinking.

“She was not drunk. I was told that she blew a zero on the Breathalyzer. She didn’t have a single drink that night. My daughter doesn’t drink,” Rick Bynes said after her 2012 DUI arrest.

Bynes announced recently that she was retiring from acting and said last year that she was moving to New York to pursue a career in fashion. These days, she’s taking classes at Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in L.A.
