Amanda Bynes Facing Possible Jail Time?

  • Amanda Bynes has been relatively quiet for the past several months after battling a difficult year in 2013; the former movie and television star found herself in trouble several times after arrests stemming from DUI and an alleged hit-and-run, and was hospitalized for several months after an incident in which she reportedly started a fire in a California suburb. Now, the California Highway Patrol has confirmed that the troubled star was arrested again early on Sunday morning after she stopped her car in the middle of an intersection and officers determined she was under the influence.

While it hasn’t been released what drug Bynes may have been under the influence of, a defense attorney says she may face jail time since she was on probation at the time of the arrest.

“As far as the criminal case is concerned, she is facing the real possibility of jail time. If she is convicted of a second-offense DUI, the law requires a minimum of 96 hours (or four days) of jail,” criminal defense attorney Troy Slaten told E! News.

It’s been reported that Bynes may have been smoking marijuana, but a spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol said they believe it was a stimulant.

“Amanda was displaying symptoms that led us to believe she may have been under the influence of a stimulant. It possibly could be a combination of a stimulant and other drugs. We do not know.”

Bynes began sharing photos of herself earlier this year looking healthy and happy and has reportedly been attending fashion school in California, but her last post on Twitter was back in May.
