Alec Baldwin: Police Called To Building Over Neighbor’s Assault

  • Alec Baldwin joked recently that usually when the police are called to his Greenwich Village apartment building, they’re coming for him, but that wasn’t the case on Tuesday.

Authorities were called to the actor’s building after his assistant and another employee witnessed a woman being assaulted, and neighbor Jaime McKeown has reportedly been arrested after allegedly hitting the woman on the head with a frying pan. Baldwin says he heard that McKeown became angry when the woman got too noisy in her apartment. The victim’s name has not been released.

Baldwin has indeed had a few run-ins with the law, with paparazzi, and, famously, with American Airlines after he refused to stop playing Words With Friends on his phone while on one of their planes. He was eventually asked to exit the plane and took to Twitter to vent about it, and later did a bit on Saturday Night Live in order to retell his side of the story.

The actor has been busy being a family man lately, but ran into troubles late last year when he allegedly used a gay slur against a photographer and his late-night show, Up Late With Alec Baldwin, was suspended from MSNBC’s lineup. Baldwin maintains that he never used a slur and that his words were misinterpreted.

“I would like to address the comments I made this past week,” he said in a statement. “I did not intend to hurt or offend anyone with my choice of words, but clearly I have – and for that I am deeply sorry. Words are important. I understand that, and will choose mine with great care going forward. What I said and did this week, as I was trying to protect my family, was offensive and unacceptable. Behavior like this undermines hard-fought rights that I vigorously support. I understand “Up Late” will be taken off the schedule for tonight and next week. I want to apologize to my loyal fans and to my colleagues at msnbc – both for my actions and for distracting from their good work. Again, please accept my apology.”
