  • The results are in and People magazine has decided on this year’s Sexiest Man Alive. The honor goes to Adam Levine, the front man for Maroon 5 and coach on The Voice. Levine now joins the ranks of men such as Channing Tatum and Bradley Cooper, the Sexiest Man Alive winners from the past two years.

To say that Levine, 34, was surprised to hear that he was being named Sexiest Man Alive would be an understatement. “As a musician, you have fantasies that you want to win Grammys, but I didn’t really think that this was on the table,” the singer told People. “I was just amazed and stunned and it almost seemed like they were kidding, but they weren’t, so that’s cool.” It’s easy to understand why Levine was surprised since a tattooed rocker probably isn’t the typical face that comes to mind for this particular title, not that such stereotypes should matter–he obviously has quite an effect on women.

While most men would be honored by such a designation, when the rumors were leaked, Levine wasn’t too sure about receiving the title. “There is no way that [I’ll] ever be able to live it down,” Levine said at the time. “I’m going to be getting pranked by everyone, if it does happen…I’m going to be getting pranked by every single person I know!”

According to People, Levine is the first musician to ever be named Sexiest Man Alive. Idris Elba, Jimmy Fallon, Bruno Mars and David Beckham are a few of the celebrities Adam Levine beat out to receive the special designation. See Levine’s profile for the Sexiest Man Alive issue here.
