    According to AP News, Asheville, North Carolina, residents Jillian Persons and Austin Geddings were arrested and charged with larceny and criminal mischief. The two are accused of cutting more than 2,000 fiber optic cables, leaving 40,000 residents and businesses in the southwestern part of the state without internet access.

    Police responded to complaints and caught the alleged perpetrators following a surveillance operation. Persons and Geddings were being held on $200,000 bail.
