  • $1 million parking space isn’t the sort of thing most of us can afford. However, if you currently have money to burn and are currently in the market for a private spot for your car in the Big Apple, there’s a handy little slice of real estate with your name plastered all over it. Of course, if you’re presently driving a 2000 Daewoo Lanos that’s missing two hubcaps, then there’s a very strong possibility that you currently do not possess the need for such a space.

According to the New York Post, a swanky little parking spot has opened up in Manhattan, directly beneath a proposed six-apartment luxury condo that’s being constructed inside a pre-war apartment building. The space — which is 2-feet wide, 23-feet long and 15 feet high — can be magically transformed into a two-car garage with the installation of a lift. Because, you know, if you have enough money to drop on the property, there’s a very strong chance you’ll have enough left over in your bank account to fund any sort of renovations.

Dolly Lenz, real estate agent Prudential Douglas Elliman, says that the space is for someone who wants to pull into their spot and never be seen again. “It’s for the type of person who finds that attractive. It could be a celebrity or a business person who is camera shy.”

That’s a lot of money to spend on privacy, though, from what I understand, New York City doesn’t have opportunities like this popping up every day. So if you’re the sort of individual who wants to have a prime spot for their insanely expensive automobile, the deed is yours for the taking. It’s worth noting, however, that the garage will be subject to maintenance fees, so make sure you have some scratch set aside of such things.

Alternatively, you could just pay a parking ticket everyday for the next 24 years. It all ends up costing roughly the same amount at the end of the day. The choice, as they say, is yours. Either way, it has to be better than the scenario on-display in the video embedded below.
