Yahoo! Upgrade Causes Downtime

Media Post reports that an attempt to upgrade Yahoo! Search Marketing this weekend inadvertently caused some glitches in the system, making it especially difficult for some advertisers and search marketing firms to manage their sponsored search campaign.

“Yahoo! Search Marketing initiated a systems upgrade this past weekend to lay the groundwork for performance and availability improvements that our advertisers will see over the coming months,” said a Yahoo! spokeswoman told Media Post.

“During this process, we encountered some unexpected issues that affected advertisers’ ability to access their accounts.”

For most the problem went unnoticed, but some firms experienced login problems or delays causing clients to be timed out before making desired changes.

All ads and sponsored listings have continued to run properly, but advertisers have been experiencing serious difficulty changing their campaigns.
