Yahoo Results Updating Too

    May 18, 2005

While it’s true that Google’s search engine updates do usually garner the most attention, the other search engines do update their product as well.

Yesterday, it was reported that Google was in the midst of a backlink update, and it was having major affects on the search engine result pages. Today, news comes of Yahoo conducting a similar type of update to their search engine index, and it too is playing havoc with Yahoo’s SERPs.

It is not known what kind of update it is, but judging by the SERP fluctuations, it probably has something similar to do with Google’s backlink update. Because the workings of Yahoo’s engine don’t seem to have quite the following Google’s does, insider speculation has been a little light.

However, when you consider the movement some are seeing, it’s clear an update of some magnitude is going on. And it probably has to do with the backlinks or the index. These types of updates usually cause the most fluctuation.

Thanks to Barry for pointing this out.
