Whether you’re seeking in-depth reports or still aren’t sure when the Summer Games begin, Yahoo’s got you covered.  New websites and tools offer an almost overwhelming amount of information relating to the 2008 Olympics.

A countdown clock, schedules, news, photos, and videos are all available on a special Yahoo Sports site.  Break down the options by sport, if you like, or check out a separate section of international coverage.

Then, "Yahoo!’s award-winning editorial staff will cover the Games from Beijing, China, and has also teamed up with several Olympians to provide a unique perspective and analysis," according to a statement.  So keep an eye out for snowboarder Gretchen Bleiler, gymnast Dominique Dawes, and long jump record holder Mike Powell.

People not tied to computers will be glad to know that a mobile site containing much of the same information has been launched, and Yahoo’s moves look even more impressive given NBC’s less-than-popular policy choices.

Still, as appreciative as sports fans should be, there’s no need to view this as a huge self-sacrifice.  We’re not complaining, but it should be noted that Yahoo’s partners include big names like Bank of America, Comcast, and Chevy.
