Yahoo Launches Contest for Small Businesses
The contest kicks off with an open call for small business owners to submit 500-word essays (deadline: May 25, 2007) that focuses on what their businesses need to be successful, and how the “Ultimate Connection” contest can help them achieve that success. Once all submissions are in, Yahoo! will select five finalists from the entries and the Yahoo! community will be invited to vote for their favorites beginning on June 11.
The package of prizes to be awarded to three small business contest winners includes a marketing mentorship with recognized marketing ‘stars’ such as Shira D. Goodman, executive vice president of marketing, Staples; Raymond Joabar, GM Credit Card Marketing & Strategic Partnerships, OPEN from American Express®; and Yahoo!’s own chief marketing officer Cammie Dunaway and a spectacular “Ultimate Connection” power lunch in New York City. Hmm. Let’s see, essays, five finalists, prize package, mentoring from experts, a panel of well-known judges – where have we seen that idea before?
Anyway, if you’re a small business, investing 500 words is not much compared to the prize package.
