Yahoo Is Greener Than You

The Internet company’s continued efforts at addressing environmental concerns received a positive mark from the Climate Counts project.

When it comes to heightening awareness of climate change, Yahoo has been a big backer of the cause. They recently picked up an acknowledgment of how well the company has taken the message to heart in its operations.

The Climate Counts project gave Yahoo a green mark for their practices. A Climate Counts green light icon for ‘striding’ means they are making efforts at assessing and improving their impact on climate change.

Climate Counts has five companies rated in its Internet/Software category. Microsoft received the other green rating out of the group. Google, where the CEO is buddies with Al Gore, only got a yellow ‘starting’ mark.

Both eBay and Amazon picked up red marks, and Climate Counts thinks climate-conscious consumers should avoid both companies until they get serious about the issue.

Yahoo’s official blog touted the mark from Climate Counts. A company intern, Doreen Bloch, wrote about how noticeable the whole environmental awareness issue is at the company:
