Yahoo Ad Problems Persist

The post-update issues plaguing Yahoo advertisers have continued to rear their heads two weeks later.

A MarketingVOX report details several problems being experienced by Yahoo’s ad customers.

The problems began after the Sunnyvale-based portal company performed an update to its ad system. First, an issue with the billing system caused the Yahoo Search program to ignore customer budget limits.

Additional problems forced Yahoo engineers to completely shut the system down. Only recently have users been able to access their accounts. Some are finding their pay methods being billed repeatedly for amounts over the budgets they set. Yahoo will certainly address those billing problems.

The article cites some complaints about Yahoo customer service. Apparently, the company did not notify ad system users of the issues very proactively. While billing problems can be a big headache, letting those problems become an unwelcome surprise will not endear Yahoo to its customers.

Yahoo and its Overture ad marketing division have continued working on the problems, according to Search Engine Journal. Advertisers who have enjoyed better terms and results than with Google definitely want to see the problem resolved as much as Yahoo itself.
