  • Reviewed by CNET as one of the five apps to help you stick to your New Year’s resolutions, Lose It! (Free) is gaining popularity by those wanting to lose weight and get in shape.

The weight loss and calorie counter program coaches users on how many calories to consume each day. In order to be successful, users have to record their exercise and everything they eat throughout the day. Along the way, Lose It! motivates you, celebrates your victories, and connects you to other Lose It! community users.

Reviews from Lose It! users read:

“This program is so easy to use when counting calories. I love the scan feature and ALL the sharing features. Thanks for always making it better!!!”

“Been using the app for about two months. I’ve lost 12 pounds.”

Lose It! even has a Twitter page for users to ask questions and stay in touch and motivated.

But how does it all work?

It starts with your goal weight, which Lose It! combines with your profile to determine your daily budget. From there you track your calories through the app from the large verified food database. You can even search by brands or use the bar code scanner to add food to your log.

Whether users want to keep their profile private, connect with friends, or join a public challenge, Lose It! combines health and fitness with ease.

The Lose It! app is free, but if users sign up for a premium account, they can track sleep, blood pressure, body fat, and hydration as well. Lose It! Premium costs $40 per year.

Lose It! is available on Android, iOS, Nook, Kindle, and the web.
