Close to nine in 10 U.S. restaurants now have Web sites and most view their sites as a marketing tool, according to an AIS Media study.

E-mail also ranked high for restaurant marketing, with 68 percent of respondents saying they used it as a main way to attract new customers. Close to three in 10 restaurants said they conducted monthly-targeted campaigns.

Around seven in 10 restaurants received their e-mail addresses through Web site opt-ins. Onsite sign-ups accounted for 61 percent of the e-mail addresses restaurants collected and 18 percent came from business card promotions.

Fifty percent of respondents said they would increase their Internet Marketing, while 43 percent would keep their current level. Just 4 percent planned to decrease their spending and 3 percent were undecided.
