Following the cue of other successful ventures such as Apple iTunes, Walmart said yesterday it would offer downloadable music and customized CD’s on the Internet.

Longing onto the website can land customers a choice of over 400,000 songs in various genres.

Then, once the songs are selected, they will be put onto a CD, packaged as the customer desires, and mailed to them.

Walmart says the service is especially useful for customers without CD burners.

Kevin Swint, Walmart.com’s director of media categories, said “We recognize music is not only important, but incredibly personal to our customers.

“The service is readily accessible to customers without a CD burner or who prefer not to download music.”

An album of music costs around $9.50 plus shipping.
