‘Walking Dead': Andrew Lincoln Thinks Season Finale May Have Gone Too Far [Spoiler]

By: Val Powell - March 31, 2014

The season 4 finale of The Walking Dead has just aired and several questions on viewers’ minds were answered. The finale episode was full of gore, as expected. Aside from having some issues resolved, the finale also raised more questions that will keep fans hanging at the edge of their seats.

Last week’s episode was emotionally packed, as Carol had to kill Lizzie, and then admitted to killing the girlfriend of Tyreese, which happened in the earlier part of the fourth season.

In an interview with Yahoo TV, Andrew Lincoln, who plays the shows protagonist, Rick Grimes, said that the writers for the show might have gone too far on the finale. “You will see a side of Rick that you haven’t seen before or in a place that he goes to that he’s never been before,” he said.

The finale showed Michonne, Carl, and Rick as they continue their travel to Terminus, but Joe’s group captures them. Daryl, who soon realizes who Joe is, tries his hand at helping Rick to no avail. One of the men in Joe’s group then attempts to rape Carl, causing Rick to get mad and bite Joe on his neck, which allows Michonne and Rick to kill off the rest of Joe’s men.

The next day, Rick is still in shock of the events that happened and Daryl says his apologies for following Joe. Rick accepts Daryl’s apology. The group then continues toward Terminus. Carl also confides in Michonne and tells him that he still has thoughts about murder.

Finally, Rick’s group finds their way to Terminus, a shipment-type structure with three levels that are surrounded by flowers and a fence, where they are warmly greeted. However, Rick soon notices that the people in Terminus have items that only his group could have. They attempt to escape, but are not successful, and the Terminus citizens lock them up in a rail car. With that, Rick’s group is then reunited with Maggie and Glenn’s group. Rick then says that the Terminus citizens are “screwing with the wrong people.

The rumors of someone trying to sexually assault Carl came true, and Rick biting Joe on the neck is a real shocker. Did the season finale really go too far? You decide. Meanwhile, fans will just have to wait for what’s to come in the season 5 premiere of The Walking Dead, which will air in October.

I am stopping my viewing of the walking dead. They had a mini holocaust in the last episode; disrespecting the holocaust itself, putting people in a freight train as was done to those in the real holocaust, showing dead parts of bodies as was done in the shallow burials of the real holocaust. The Walking Dead is going the limit of horror in place of good writing. I am done.

As a jewish person my self im not really to sure how u made that comparison and something tells me you may be looking into things when there not really there. I thought season 4 was fantastic, im very much excited for season 5, and rick is a absolute beast

    • connor

Where on earth do you get this ?!?!?!
First off, this is the apocalypse not the holocaust. and just because of trains you make that judgement? they are just holding them prisoner somewhere they can escape so they can eat them ( supposedly cannibals)

    • Justin

Did they cannibilize people like the holocaust? No, your looking to deep into it. Its a show about survival at no matter what the cost. I don’t think you can go to far in a show about people doing what it takes to surive. There are zombies but they are not really the threat, the people are. If your really offended by a show, maybe you shouldn’t watch the news as well.

    • DonebeingPoliticallyCorrect.

Wow, I’m glad that you’re not going to watch the show anymore because it’s people like you that are going to get the show cancelled because it’s somehow ‘offensive’ to your precious sensibilities. Go back to watching your mainstream ‘how many kids can i have?’ shows and leave the good shows alone.

    • Candi

What and the hell are you talking about? It’s a fictional show, your just a trouble maker! I’m sure you are offended by everything!

    • Cassandra

or or or…how about this, how about they’re being held captive inside a train car because THEYRE IN A GODDAMN TRAIN TERMINUS!!! they used what they already have available! would it have been better had they been held captive in a cargo airplane? even though that would have made absolutely no sense in the show, we must cater to your crazy and avoid putting people inside a train car. There’s no hidden meaning behind it, there’s no hidden malicious intent. Sometimes an apple is just an apple you overly sensitive paranoid asshat. And for the record you weren’t in the holocaust, so you don’t even have a right to be offended to begin with. I expect more of you losers to flood the internet soon enough to cause trouble. the newer generations just get worse and worse i swear.

      • Tony Phillips

If they had been held in a cargo plane, she would have said it was offensive to radical Muslims who have hi-jacked planes before.

    • Tony Phillips

Let me guess, you’re a Liberal, huh?

    • Aziz Shahmardani

God man! where the hell did you get this from, sheesh, your like one of those people that like to find something wrong/ something to compare something to, your one sick person.

    • Jamie Philips

Shut that dumb trap of yours. Go watch the disney channel

    • Bruce

I agree with all the comments below, the show is better off not having you watch it. Switch to NICK AT NITE. AMC has a western about a railroad that has held prisoners in a rail car , you gonna slam that show also ???lmao

    • kaylin

uhh…I volunteered in S. Africa– the daycare center I worked in was made out of 2 freight train car’s….would you compare that to the holocaust as well??
You’re really grasping at straws to find disrespect where there is none.

  • Wesley

Seriously a comparison to the holocaust WOW the walking dead is a show based on a world where zombies aka WALKERS are the real threat and people are trying to survive in this world by doing whatever it takes to survive and this fresh new angle is a thriller and people like you look at it in political manner!!!! Seriously you may enjoy programmes like…….oh wait more or less every proggramme in this day and age touches upon some form of political in correctness however this finale of the walking dead was not one of them and did not have no comparison to the holocaust jeez!!! It’s just great telly and may i add FICTIONAL!!!!

  • Christopher

Get over it Pasty. AMC’s The Walking Dead is a hit TV series for a reason. But that is just it; it’s nothing more than a TV series. It’s not real, and it’s not meant to harm people on a personal or physical level and if you take it as such, your an idiot. Yes, the holocaust happened, get over it. That was years ago and it’s history for a reason, for people of today’s generation to reenact or to change for substantial of reasons. It you seriously are done watching a show that you’ve been watching for 4 seasons all because you got butt hurt over one thing you didn’t find appropriate, the I only have one thing left to say to you, Good riddance! “If you watch the walking dead, you risk your life. If you expect nothing will offend you, you risk your life. Nowadays, if you miss to much of the walking dead, you risk your life. You don’t have a choice. The only thing you can choose, is what your risking it for.”

  • Chris

Please, Patsy, dont even watch TV period because if you try hard enough you could find something bat crazy and Holocost related about anything in your coo coo fantasy world! This is a discussion for Walking Dead fans. Not fruit loops! Thank you.

  • Chris

Im honestly embarrassed to breathe the same air you do Pansy! Im actually offended that you would make that type of comparison. Is it even possible to compare real historical events with fake, made up television fantasy shows and come out sounding half way intelligent?!? Nope!! See, im already smarter than you. Anyway, looking beyond coo coo’s comment, I LOVE THE WALKING DEAD!! The plots, twists, suspense and downright badass directing is beyond awesome!! Been a dedicated TWD fan since day 1 and will be till the end!;)
