  • Sunday, Dec. 29 was a tragic day for Atlanta-based rapper Waka Flocka Flame. It was reported that the “No Hands” rapper’s younger brother Kayo Redd had died.

Redd, whose real name is Caodes Scott, was found dead at his home in Henry County, GA.

According to TMZ, law enforcement officers have stated that they do not suspect foul play, and suicide is the likely cause of death.

But, there are conflicting reports as to how the aspiring rapper actually died. So, the nature of his death is currently unclear.

Some media outlets have stated that Redd was killed, while others report that he committed suicide.

Flocka, himself, also tweeted that his brother committed suicide. In the message, he tweeted, “My F****** Lil Brother Killed Hisself F**** Lifeee.”  However, the post was quickly removed.

Flocka’s ‘momager’, Mizay Entertainment owner Debra Antney took to Twitter to confirm the death of her son.

According to MTV, this is actually the second immediate loss the 28-year-old rapper and his mother have endured. Antney also suffered the loss of another son who died in a car accident at the age of 13.

The rapper also tweeted later that day mourning the devastating loss of his brother. The “Round of Applause” rapper shared a Flipagram link with an assortment of pictures he compiled to commemorate the life of his brother.

According to Funkmaster Flex’s hip hop blog, In Flex We Trust, Antney broke her silence yesterday in regards to her son’s death. She shared her final moments with him, and even revealed his possible reasons for the apparent suicide.

“He had just left my house and he headed down the street and the next thing I knew was my son was dead,” said Antney. “My son was a good kid and I never had any problems with him,” she said.

Antney, who fought back tears throughout the phone conversation, revealed that her son battled with the fact that he couldn’t provide for her financially as his older brother does. “I just don’t know why he would do such a thing?” It’s so, so sad…and truly goes to show that you NEVER know what someone is going through.”

Kayo Redd was also an upcoming Atlanta rapper. Over the summer, he released his latest mixtape Redd Kisses. Redd was signed to Bricksquad Monopoly Records, which is owned and operated by Waka Flocka Flame.

Other members of Bricksquad also expressed their condolences for the fallen rapper. Although Waka Flocka and rapper Gucci Mane have had their differences, he also tweeted his condolences.

Redd’s official autopsy report should be released sometime later this week.
