Dozens of new cities in Microsoft’s Virtual Earth joined the list of those with Bird’s Eye imagery and other advanced views ahead of the Christmas holiday.

We were happy to see our homebase of Lexington, KY, make the list of the first twelve cities to have Bird’s Eye views available when Microsoft made that feature available a couple of Decembers ago.

Users of Windows Live Local have more to see thanks to the efforts of the Virtual Earth crew. It’s not limited to Bird’s Eye views of US cities, either.

Our pals at Resource Shelf pointed out Microsoft’s 3D textured imagery of almost 60 cities. These range from coast to coast in the US; Liverpool in the UK and Lachine in Montreal, Canada also merited this treatment.

Microsoft also opened new and updated imagery for places all over the world. Philadelphia and Knoxville were among the newest US Bird’s Eye cities, while Madrid, Brussels, and London were added in Europe.
