Urchin, WebTrends Deals, Now Free NetTracker Lite

    March 29, 2005

Sane Solutions has announced the release of Net Tracker Lite, aimed at the small and low traffic site sector.

Much like the glorified hit counters many bloggers favor, it’s free, and (apparently) easy to use.

Download Net Tracker Lite.

From the press release:

NetTracker Lite users can take advantage of many of the features found in commercial versions of the NetTracker line of Web analytics solutions, including advanced filtering and drill down capabilities, flexible reporting options including a calendar-based reporting interface, and the ability to share browser-based reports on the Web or export reports to software tools such as Excel and Word.

Jupiters Eric Peterson says that this is likely a direct response to Google aquiring Urchin and WebTrends breaking free of NetIQ – well, yeah…

My suspicion is that had this announcement come last week we would have shrugged and said, “Yeah, that’s nice of them to give away software, especially considering their’s is a relatively mature application.” In the face of the Google and WebTrends announcements, however, I think it’s safe to say that a “Googled” Urchin, an autonomous WebTrends and free NetTracker creates a fairly significant change in the overall analytics landscape, hopefully for the better.

I couldn’t find the product on their site, if anyone with better sight and patience finds it, do drop it in here!
