  • Twitter held its Analyst Day conference on Wednesday, where it discussed some new features it’s working on, and will launch in the coming months.

For example, starting sometime in the first half of next year, you’ll be able to recored, edit, and share your own videos natively on Twitter.

It’s also working on an “instant, personalized timeline” for new users who “don’t want to spend time cultivating one on their own.”

“Right now, what you see of the 500 million Tweets published every day is based entirely on who you follow, and that’s a great model for many people,” said VP of Product Kevin Weil. “But with that many Tweets every day, there’s no way even the most avid Twitter user will find everything that’s relevant to their interests in any particular moment. That’s why we’re exploring ways to surface relevant Tweets so the content that is interesting to you is easy to discover – whether you stay on Twitter all day or visit for a few minutes – while still preserving the real-time nature of the platform that makes Twitter special.”

Last month, Twitter announced it was experimenting with showing more content from accounts you don’t follow in the timeline.

The company is also working on new features to make it easier to take public conversations private. In fact, it announced one of these today – the ability to share and discuss tweets natively and private via Direct Messages. More details on that should be forthcoming. It’s rolling out next week.

Overall, Twitter says it’s picking up the pace on product changes, so get ready for that.
