Twitter tested polls for a long time before launching the feature last fall.

Since then, I don't know about you, but I've seen polls put to use quite a few times since then.

Twitter made a couple of related announcements today. For one, users have cast 1.7 billion votes in Twitter polls since the October launch.

Additionally, Twitter announced that you can now adjust how long your Twitter polls run. This is an important feature for making these things more useful.

I'm glad to see that Twitter continues to improve polls rather than just launching and leaving it alone. A couple months ago, they also started letting users add more choices.

This is also the latest example of Twitter easing up on limitations of its service. As you probably know, the Twitterverse is expecting expanded character limits in tweets in the near future.
