  • Cover, an Android lockscreen app, announced that it has been acquired by Twitter. It’s unclear exactly what Twitter intends to do with it, but the app will remain active at least for now.

In a blog post (via TechCrunch), the Cover team writes:

Twitter, like Cover, believes in the incredible potential of Android. They share our vision that smartphones can be a lot smarter — more useful and more contextual — and together we’re going to make that happen. We’ll be building upon a lot of what makes Cover great, and we’re thrilled to create something even better at Twitter.

While the Cover app will live on, don’t expect much else to happen with it, as the team says it will be focusing its attention on work at Twitter. They say they’ll provide an update if things change (presumably like if the app shuts down).

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
