  • The Trials series earned a privileged place in gaming with a combination of irreverent, sadistic humor and a punishing difficulty curve. The latest game in the series, Trials Evolution, set sales records on the Xbox 360 when it was released. Now, with a new Trials game on the horizon, Ubisoft has announced a mobile companion game titled Trails Frontier.

Frontier will appear on smartphones and tablets sometime this fall. It is being developed in conjunction with Trials Fusion, the next full-fledged Trials title for consoles and PC. Though the two games will connect to unlock gear and bike customizations, Frontier is its own full game with its own story.

Players will use their motorbike skills to complete missions given out by village locals. Completing missions nets players parts for their bike and skins for their rider while unlocking new areas for gameplay. Players will also be able to expand their village to help the locals. Leaderboards and multiplayer competitions will, of course, be a part of the mobile title.

As seen in the announcement trailer below, Frontier seems to have all the physics-based driving-puzzle action seen in the console titles. In its announcement, Ubisoft stated that it has a “robust” roadmap for Frontier content updates in the future.
