Google, eBay, and YouTube are all pretty big in the online world - monsters, really. But in terms of page views - and in the UK - none of seem to them even approach Facebook's popularity, as new Hitwise stats indicate that the social network receives about one-seventh of all page views.
Robin Goad wrote this morning, "Facebook is the clear leader in terms of page views. As the table below illustrates, it currently receives more page views than Google UK, eBay UK and YouTube combined."

Of course, Google's designed to get people in and out, and it does a good job of doing so, so in that sense, it's not quite fair to compare its page views to those Facebook receives. Still, Facebook's 14.8 percent of UK page views wins if you choose to pit it against eBay UK, YouTube, Windows Live Mail, Gmail, Bebo, and Yahoo UK & Ireland Mail, too. (Their shares tally to 14.2 percent.)
As for some other stats, Goad reported, "UK Internet visits to Facebook increased by 86.1% between September 2008 and September 2009, and have more than doubled over the last 14 months." Also, "During September the site accounted for almost half (49.2%) of all UK internet visits to a social networking website."
It sounds like Facebook's almost sure to pass some significant tipping points in the next month or two, then.
