Yahoo's board of directors is going to receive a shakeup at the end of this year.  Maggie Wilderotter, who's been a member since July of 2007, has announced that she'll vacate the position at that point in time.

Yahoo admitted in an SEC filing last week, "Mrs. Maggie Wilderotter notified Yahoo! Inc. (the 'Company') that she intends to resign from the Company's Board of Directors on December 31, 2009."

This will represent a fairly major loss, considering that Wilderotter's proven her worth as a CEO at a telecommunications company and also worked at Microsoft for a time.  Aside from Carol Bartz, she's the only woman on Yahoo's board of directors, too.

Yahoo tried to stress that it hasn't angered or disappointed Wilderotter in any way, however, with its official statement continuing, "Mrs. Wilderotter is resigning to focus more on other responsibilities and not due to any disagreement with the Company on any matter related to the Company's operations, policies or practices."

Finally, in case you're wondering, Yahoo hasn't mentioned who will replace Wilderotter or even named any possibilities just yet.  But it's possible that there will be another power struggle like the one Carl Icahn initiated if the company still isn't performing well.
