What an awful commercial.
Yahoo's first commercial from the big $100 million "Y!ou" campaign has hit the web. The clip has been posted at several video sites and social networks around the web, and has likely been embedded all over the place by now. The company says it will soon air on TV (via SIA).
When Yahoo announced the campaign, it said it was asserting its place at the center of people's online lives. The commercial somewhat reflects this, although for those unfamiliar with what Yahoo is trying to do exactly, they will likely see this as just another generic Yahoo commercial.
"Our vision is to be at the center of people’s online lives—to be at the place where their world meets the larger world,” said Elisa Steele, Yahoo executive vice president and CMO, speaking at the IAB MIXX Conference and Expo in New York City. "Our new branding will focus on people—the power and promise of 'you.'"
Here's the clip:
I have to say, It's no Dokken vs. Chicken. But then again, what is?
