Motorola Unveils First Android Phone

Cliq well-received so far

More than two weeks after Motorola started hyping a mysterious Android-related event, the big day's come, and the company's first Android phone has been unveiled.  Called the Cliq, the device has succeeded in impressing people so far.

The Cliq is equipped with a physical keyboard, but remains thinner than most competing slider phones.  It comes with a D-Pad, too, which should be useful for games and a great many apps.

Otherwise, according to a press release, "The CLIQ delivers a reliable mobile Web experience by harnessing the power and speed of T-Mobile's 3G network and Wi-Fi.  Additional CLIQ features include a 3.1-inch HVGA touch-screen display, a 5 megapixel auto focus camera with video capture and playback at 24 frames per second, a 3.5mm headset jack, a music player with pre-loaded Amazon MP3 store application, Shazam, iMeem Mobile, and a pre-installed 2GB microSD memory card with support for up to 32 GB of removable memory."

The Cliq also promises to provide easy access to all sorts of Google services, along with Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace.

One big question that remains is how much the Cliq will cost.  Another relates to the exact release date - T-Mobile customers can't yet buy the phone.  Still, this is shaping up to be a very desirable device that may help Android gain a significant amount of market share.

Better Cameras

This is another model for the dozens of similiar models that we see in the market. It's time for this kind of phones to have at least an 10 megapixel camera.
