Opera 10 - The Final Chapter

Final Version of New Browser Released

Today Opera released the final version of Opera 10, the long-awaited new entry in the company's browser family. It's free and comes in 43 languages.

Opera points out three things that it says users "must try" in this version:

1. Opera Turbo, a new compression technology that solves the pain of slow connections

2. The new interface, which Opera describes as "sleek and beautiful."

3. Better tabs, which are resizable.

"At Opera, we have always worked hard to innovate new ways to improve everyone’s browsing experience," said Jon von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera. "Opera Turbo is our newest innovation, and one we think everyone should try, because we all will face a slow connection at some point. Now, there is a solution, and it is absolutely free. We are excited to offer Opera 10 to the world, and we hope even more people discover what the 40 million people who have already made the switch know: browsing with Opera makes the Web a safer, more enjoyable and more interesting place."

Opera 10 also comes with "super-sized speed dial," which lets users turn their speed dial into a 5x5 grid, and allows for customized pictures. The browser updates automatically, so users always have the latest version. Spellcheck is enabled in any form as well as the email client.

Speaking of the email client that has been improved as well. Opera mail comes with a new thread reader to make it easier to follow discussions.

In addition to these features, Opera 10 is 40% faster in page loading than the last version, and that isn't even counting the activation of Opera Turbo. Web developers also get the ability to experiment with a new update to Opera Dragonfly, which is available in 36 languages.
