Majority Of People Can Imagine Picking Bing Over Google?

Survey says "yes"

If you believe the results of a new survey, Google's defeat may not be far off.  One News Page talked to more than 1,000 people, and 55 percent of them supposedly said that they could see themselves replacing Google with Bing as their main search engine.

Actually, the exact wording of a press release is "55% of One News Page users said they could see themselves replace Google with Bing as their main search engine" (emphasis ours), and this iffy grammar represents a bit of a red flag.  As does the very idea that over half of Google's users might abandon the search giant, of course.

But we digress.  Here's another interesting One News Page finding: "90% said they could be using the expression 'to Bing it' as a metaphor for conducting an internet search."

Then, on the less radical side of things, it seems that 58 percent of the survey's respondents were worried that Google's becoming too dominant in the search market.  Also, 55 percent of respondents found Bing to be pretty similar to Google.

Got time for a last factoid?  The first page of Google's search results for the term [One News Page] don't include any links to the organization's website.

Hmm ...

Quite interesting stuff. If you asked me, I'd say it's more a case of webmasters getting fed up with Google's search dominance than anything else. I mean no one really likes a "monopoly", unless of course your the one behind that monopoly.

I for one find it particularly annoying that millions always have to catch a cold when one person sneezes. I think the competition is very much welcome, of course that is not to say Bing would become the new Google or anything. Quite honestly I don't see that happening.

At least not yet. :)

Google and Bing

Well I don't see Bing defeating Google in the coming years.Google has already captured the market and they are continuously upgrading their algorithms.Bing on the other hand doesn't show any good search performance. Its just a remodeling of Live. But again its true that Google has become a garbage spot.I think Google should clean it up first.

Thanks
