After a long period of focusing on American content, it looks like Hulu's going global. One fresh deal has netted the site shows from the UK, while another partnership will result in the sharing of Bollywood films. Plus, movement in the opposite direction - Hulu allowing access overseas - is being discussed.
Let's look at the in-the-bag arrangements first. In regards to the UK, Digital Rights Group will, according to Matthew Garrahan, "provide full episodes of comedies including Green Wing, Peep Show and Doc Martin." And indeed, all three shows are already available on Hulu.

As for the India-centric agreement, Saavn has put movies like Sarkar, Hera Pheri, and Deewana on the table, with more stuff on the way. One further important note: English subtitles are standard.
Now, for what out friends outside the US have been waiting for: Andy Forssell, Hulu's senior vice president of content acquisition and distribution, told Garrahan with respect to an expansion, "We're having discussions in the top six to eight markets . . . we're laying the groundwork."
Hulu's got a long way to go, but YouTube may really need to start looking over its shoulder.
