UK Launches Search Engine For Films

A Google for films

The UK Film Council has launched a new Web site that is focused on being a comprehensive search engine for films.

FindAnyFilm.com, which the council bills as a Google for films, contains over 30,000 unique films in 20 genres. The genres include action, foreign, classic, thriller, Bollywood and Drama. Users can search by mood, location or using keywords.

The site contains films in over 60 different languages ranging from English to Japanese, Hindi, Arabic, French and Cantonese.

"This new site is going to transform how consumers find the films they want to watch - we will soon wonder how we ever coped without it! We have turned what was often an incredibly time-consuming, frustrating process into one that makes it much easier for film fans to see films in the UK," said Peter Buckingham, Head of Distribution and Exhibition at the UK Film Council.

"FindAnyFilm.com does exactly what it says on the tin and is the fastest place to find a film to watch in any format, if it's legally available in the UK."

User can click on a chosen film and be taken to a retailer Web site where they can purchase the film or buy tickets to a movie. The site also includes trailers for films, details about new films and the most popular searches.
